House of Bread is a unique program helping under-resourced women make a fresh start through job skills training.
In an atmosphere of friendship, participants and mentors build relationships while sharing tools for restoring confidence, dignity, and hope through a six-week session.
Participants learn job and personal skills through hands-on training, coupled with emotional and spiritual support, while baking and selling bread alongside volunteer mentors from the Roanoke community.

What does a ticket include?
A $15 ticket includes a soup-and-bread supper with cookies and beverages, plus a House of Bread tasting flight.
What is the family maximum?
The maximum is $50 for household family members registering together.
Do community bakers pay to enter?
No. Registered community bakers attend and enter at no cost, including dinner and the tasting flight.
Can I buy tickets at the door?
Yes, tickets may be purchased at the door if space remains available.
Can guests taste community contest entries?
No. Community entries are judged by the panel and viewed for People’s Choice. Attendee tasting is limited to the House of Bread sample flight.
How does the House of Bread tasting vote work?
After sampling, make a donation to vote. The House of Bread sample that raises the most money will be featured at the next bread stand.
